How Often Should I Clean My Oriental Rug?

Many times clients do not know how often they should have their oriental rugs cleaned and wait until they visually see a dirty rug. This practice could cause a permanent damage.

Even if an oriental rug does not look dirty, you should have it professionally cleaned every 6-12 months depending on traffic, pets, and style of rug to avoid any permanent damage.

Vacuuming removes most top soils from the surface of the rug but cannot reach the millions of microscopic dust particles, soil, and bacteria settle at the bottom of the rug which then start causing damage from within.

If your oriental rug has been infested and damaged by moths you need to get your rugs exterminated before they get cleaned by us. Because of the potential danger, we currently cannot store any rugs with moths on them.

If you have any water leaks or water damage, you will want to get your rug dried as fast as possible or you run the risk of it growing mold or the colors might run throughout the rug, causing permanent damage.

A general rule of thumb is to have your oriental rug professionally cleaned at least once every 1-2 years, depending on the amount of foot traffic and other factors such as pets and environmental conditions.
