Our 9 Step Rug Cleaning Process ensures the DEEPEST Cleaning for your Rugs
Our In-Plant Rug Cleaning Service, includes our very thorough 9 Steps Cleaning System to get maximum soil and spot removal.
Having your rug cleaned in our plant allows us to give it several treatments for a more thorough cleaning, controlled drying and the use of various tools that are not available in our customers residences.
In-Plant Rug Cleaning is recommended for Rugs that are heavily soiled or have Pet Accidents (Urine, Feces, Vomit, etc). They should not be cleaned on location like wall-to-wall carpet.
Step 1: Pre-Inspection and Pick Up - Each rug is carefully inspected to determine its fiber type, construction, and any inherent conditions that may affect cleaning. We also measure the rug and outline the expected results with a custom cleaning “prescription.” Rugs can be picked up from your home by our team or dropped off at our shop. When rugs are dropped off, the pre-inspection is completed at that time.
Step 2: Dry Soil Removal - Woven rugs, especially hand knotted rugs are designed to hide dry soil. A few years ago, the Eureka company did a study and found that a 9 x 12 could hide 87 pounds of dirt! WOW! We use a variety of techniques to “dust” the rugs from the front and back. This is the most important step in cleaning any textile.
Step 3: Pre-Condition - Depending on the rug’s fiber type, soil level, and condition, the pre-conditioning stage may involve applying a cleaning solution to emulsify soils or immersing the rug in a tub soak to address heavy contamination and odors.
Step 4: Pre-Spot and Fringe Preparation - Challenging spots are treated with specialized solutions to improve removal, and the fringe is pre-treated for maximum soil release.
Step 5: Agitation and Rinsing - Agitation works the solution deep into the fibers to release embedded soil. This can be done with a counter-rotating brush (CRB), rejuvenation tool, or automatic rug wash machine. Some rugs are cleaned with very low-moisture methods, where agitation and solution alone are used before moving directly to drying and grooming.
Step 6: Rinsing and Flushing - For rugs cleaned with water, soils and residues are thoroughly removed with fresh water and specialized rinsing tools. Rugs are laid flat in a wash pit — an elevated floor with built-in drainage — so water and impurities can flow away as both sides are gently agitated for a complete flush. (This step is skipped for rugs cleaned with low-moisture methods, where drying and grooming follow agitation.)
Step 7: Speed Dry - After cleaning, rugs are first spun in a centrifuge to remove excess water. They are then hung in a controlled drying room with fans and dehumidifiers to ensure quick, even drying while preventing shrinkage, dye migration, or mildew.
Step 8: Grooming - When the rug is dry, it is combed and finished with soft groomers made for specialty rugs.
Step 9: Post Inspection and Wrapping - Our cleaning specialist will give the rug a final inspection and release it for pick up OR delivery. Your rug will be wrapped to protect it from dust and environmental soils until it is picked up or delivered.
